There was an article that caught my attention by Gordon Monson outlining the mistakes of the Jazz front office, in particular that of Kevin O'Connor. Needless to say the media has been very critical of the Jazz.

I understand that the media is paid to write and opinion and to put something out there that will cause controversy, but often times I feel that they do not always do enough research to support their claims. That being said I decided to perform a statistical analysis comparing the Jazz draft history to that of the rest of the NBA. I looked at all of the drafts from 1996-2005, and here is what I found:

There have been 288 first round draft picks since 1996, the Jazz have made 13 of those picks.

On average the Jazz have drafted with the 21st pick.

The Jazz have 2 of their 13 picks, or 15% still with the team, AK-47 and Deron Williams.

91 of the 288 total picks, or 32%, are still with their original team.

2 of the 10, or 20%, of the 21st picks are still with their original team.

218 of the 288 total picks, or 76% are still in the league.

5 of the 10 21st picks, or 50%, are still in the league.

10 of the 13 Utah Jazz draft picks, or 77%, are still in the league.

So what does this all mean? In my opinion it means that the Jazz are pretty much on par with the rest of the league, especially when you compare it to their average draft position. They are a little low when it comes to retention of players, but they are above average when it comes to picking players that are going to stay in the league. In my opinion the Utah media is not telling the complete story. The Utah Jazz are on track and are ahead of schedule to a return to the playoffs. Remember that it was only 4 years ago that two of the 50 greatest basketball players in NBA History, John Stockton and Karl Malone, left the team and this rebuilding process began.

www.mullettracker.com

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The time has arrived to announce that soon, in several very short periods of time, I will be launching the greatest website ever, Mullet Tracker. I have a strategy that usually works and I have had a good time doing it. From almost making a player cry, to a player's father yelling at me I have seen it all. I was reading the Salt Lake Tribune and came across a good article about heckling. If you ever feel inclined to start heckling, you may want to read this article before making the classic rookie heckler mistake of saying, "Hey, you suck."

http://www.sltrib.com/sports/ci_3809051

Heckling is a great hobby and remember, these are paid professionals and they should have to deal with as much crap as we fans want to give them right? I mean I feel that I would be doing myself and the professional athlete a disservice if I did not heckle the hell out of them.

Feel free to comment on your greatest heckling moment and I will post mine later on as well.

The NBA Is Back Baby.

For years now people have been complaining about the National Basketball Association. Complaints have ranged from the influx of thuggery to lack of quality play to lack of real Super Stars. Well let me just say that the NBA is back. I will be the first to admit that I am a NBA homer and that I have a biased opinion on the matter. That being said, it really is on the up and up.

If you look at the teams left in the playoffs Phoenix Suns, LA Clippers, Dallas Mavericks, SA Spurs, Detroit Pistons, Cleveland Cavs, Miami Heat, New Jersey Nets. These teams do not have thug players on their rosters. The closest thing would be Rasheed Wallace, and although he was a thug he has calmed down ever since he joined Detroit. My hope is that NBA GM's will realize that thugs do not bode well in the playoffs and start rewarding quality character guys.

Lack of Super Stars has also been solved. LeBron James and Dwayne Wade are two humble young Super Stars that will take the league back into the glory days.

In regards to quality play......if you have missed the Dallas, San Antonio game last night then you do not know what quality play is.

These playoffs have been of the hizzle for shizzle. Let me start by telling you why I chose the name My Woman Cooks. It's not because I am a sexist pig, although I have been accused of being one in the past, it is actually the name of a 3 on 3 basketball team I played on back in the day. Everyone we played got a good laugh from the name so I decided why not.

As far as my blog is concerned, I haven't quite decided what I will put in here. It will most certainly contain information about my personal life and my passions which include but are not limited to:

My wife and two beautiful girls
Sports, I am a sport addict. Utah Jazz basketball is my main fix.
Music
Money....ect.
I hope you enjoy my blog and tell your friends and family about it. Peace out yo.
